Xbox - a video game console manufactured by the American company Microsoft. Sales of the console began in November 2001. The Xbox was the first console produced by Microsoft, which launched the hardware after the release of Sony's competing PlayStation 2 console, and before the release of the GameCube designed by Nintendo. ¹⁾

Kevin Bachus, Ted Hase, Otto Berkes, and Seamus Blackley were the four gentlemen who came up with the concept for Microsoft's first console game. Bill Gates was pitched the proposal by the four of them, and he happily accpeted it. ²⁾

All took less than two years from start to finish. According to Xbox game sales figures, the business sold 1.5 million units in its first year. ³⁾

In its early days, the Xbox was a huge success for gamers. According to Xbox, the company had already sold 21 million units and earned 750$ million by the fourth year! ⁴⁾

Xbox 360 was released by Microsoft in 2005. According to Xbox 360 statistics, the Xbox One's predecessor sold almost 86 million copies at the conclusion of its life cycle in 2017. ⁵⁾
