Spider-Man, created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, originally appeared in Amazing Fantasy #15 in August 1962. 1)
Spider-Man was never going to be a spider-themed superhero. Stan Lee had intended to base a comic on a fly or bug, but instead chose a spider. 2)
Spider-Man was Marvel's first spider. A big spider appeared in Journey into Mystery, which was released a month before his debut appearance. 3)
The high school library, which was utilized for one of the combat scenes in “The Amazing Spider-Man,” was built on a separate stage and was comprised of over 3,000 feet of fake Styrofoam books with actual covers.4)
The proper spelling of the spider's name is Spider-Man; Stan Lee added a hyphen to avoid confusion with “Superman”. 5)
The Amazing Spider-Man made his final appearance in volume 1 of the 700th edition, which was released in December 2012. 6)
