Shows Before Rick And Morty
Justin Roiland produced the House of Cosbys, a tiny animated program that resulted in multiple stop and desist letters from Bill Cosby's attorneys. To avoid a lawsuit, he decided to make a crude Back to the Future spoof called The Real Animated Adventures of Doc and Mharti, with his two characters dubbed Doc Smith and Mharti McDonhalds. When Roiland began editing the audio for this, he fell in love with the voices he'd done for the two characters and decided to abandon his protest in order to further develop the characters, eventually transforming them into Rick and Morty.5)
