Hedgehogs go into winter hibernation. When the temperature outside the window drops, hedgehogs go into winter sleep and become dull. Their home is a tiny burrow in which the temperature remains constant, so they can easily survive the harsh weather conditions on the ground. ¹⁾

Hedgehogs are unusual small animals that inhabit Europe, Asia, Africa, and New Zealand. However, they are not found natively on American or Australian soil. ²⁾

Hedgehog pregnancy lasts from 5 to 6 weeks and then the female gives birth to 1 to 5 baby hedgehogs, after three weeks they open their eyes. ³⁾

Baby hedgehogs are called hoglets. ⁴⁾

Hedgehogs have very little vision, their main sense is smell and hearing. It is through smell that they sense danger and are able to react quickly enough to danger. ⁵⁾
