Elvis was born at their two-room house in East Tupelo, Mississippi, just 35 minutes after his twin brother, Jesse Garon, was stillborn. ¹⁾

Despite becoming a global music superstar, Elvis never played live outside of North America, with all of his appearances in 1957 taking place in the United States and a handful in Canada. ²⁾

There has been widespread conjecture that Elvis never played overseas because his manager, Colonel Tom Parker, was an illegal immigrant who was afraid of being refused re-entry into the nation.³⁾

In 1964, Elvis paid $55,000 for the old presidential yacht The Potomac, which belonged to Franklin Delano Roosevelt. ⁴⁾
