Labrador Retriever (Canada) Originally bred in Newfoundland (now part of Canada) as fishing dogs, Labradors are known for their friendly and outgoing nature. They are the most popular dog breed in the United States and are often used as guide dogs and in search-and-rescue operations. 1)
