Wade will flirt with pretty about everything that moves. Gerry Duggan, the writer of Marvel NOW, has even stated that he will tackle “anything with a pulse.” Not only has he been turned on by men and women, but also by androids, aliens, and demons! ¹⁾

Deadpool embarks on a killing spree after becoming even more psychotic in the appropriately titled “Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe”. During his fury, he virtually eliminates Marvel's whole roster. ²⁾

Patient Zero produced Itsy Bitsy (yep, like the nursery rhyme) by injecting a patient with Spidey and D-DNA. Pool's But, unlike her parents, Itsy Bitsy grew out to be bloodthirsty, with a cruel sense of humour and lethal web-shooting abilities. ³⁾

Wade referred to the actor in Deadpool and Cable #2. Deadpool has been characterized as “Ryan Reynolds crossed with a Shar-Pei”. That clearly started something, since it's almost as if Ryan Reynolds was born to portray Deadpool.⁴⁾

Deadpool, which was created on a $58 million budget and shot in just 48 days, became the first R-rated film to gross more than $100 million in the United States. ⁵⁾

Deadpool was created on a shoestring budget and grossed $491 million worldwide, despite a ban in China (the world's second largest market for Hollywood films). The Deadpool outfit featured a muscle layer below that had to be removed since Ryan Reynolds was so muscular that the costume was not only too tight for him, but also made him appear overlarge. ⁷⁾

Ryan Reynolds mentioned during a Google presentation that the cab driver character “Dopinder” was named after a “very great person” he knew in elementary school who died when struck by lightning. It was supposed to be a memorial to him. ⁸⁾

In January 2012, a three-minute test reel was shot in an attempt to persuade the studio's executives to continue forward with the film. The footage was revealed to the public on August 1, 2014, and based on the enormous favorable response from fans, production on the film finally commenced. Ryan Reynolds said on Twitter on April Fool's Day 2015 that the film will be rated PG-13, which sparked outrage among fans because the Deadpool character frequently swears and conducts violent violence. Later that day, Reynolds revealed that it was all a joke and that the picture will be rated R. ¹⁰⁾

Ryan Reynolds sees Deadpool's capacity to “break the fourth wall” as a mirror of the times. When a character in a film or book becomes self-aware and realizes he is within a film or comic panel and talks directly to the viewer, this is referred to as “breaking the fourth wall”. ¹¹⁾

“Oh, Canada,” Deadpool says after breaking his hand while attempting to fight Colossus. This is a nod to Wade Wilson's (and Ryan Reynolds') Canadian ancestry. “O Canada” is Canada's national anthem. ¹³⁾

Deadpool was called after a betting pool created by a group of failed government subjects that provided each of them an equal chance of surviving. The odds on Deadpool were 1000 to 1. He outperformed the odds. ¹⁴⁾

Deadpool was given the nickname “The Merc with a Mouth” because, well, he just won't stop speaking. In fact, he's destroyed more than one foe by driving them insane with his never-ending chatter. ¹⁵⁾
