Anime is a term coming from the English word animation. Anime originates from Japan and consists of hand-drawn and computer animation. It describes all animated works, regardless of their style or origin.¹⁾

Studio Ghibli Inc. was founded on June 15, 1985, by directors Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata and producer Toshio Suzuki. It is a Japanese animation film studio with headquarters in Tokyo. Studio Ghibli is best known for its animated feature films. ²⁾

The anime with the most episodes (so far) is Sazae-san. It first aired on October 5, 1969, and is still in production. There are over 7000 episodes. ³⁾

The oldest fully preserved anime dates back to 1917 and is titled Namakura Gatana. This four-minute story about a samurai was created by Junichi Kouchi. ⁶⁾
