Vitamins

Vitamin C in potatoes

There is a good amount of vitamin C in potatoes. Although it is less than, for example, in a lemon, due to the massive consumption of potatoes, they are the ones that provide us with the most of it. It is estimated that 37% of the vitamin C we consume comes from potatoes. 1)

Vitamin PP

Nicotinic acid, better known as vitamin PP or niacin, is essential to the proper functioning of the body. It is commonly found in plant and animal products and has nothing to do with smoking. 2)

BCAA

Branched-chain amino acids, BCAAs are amino acids that have a branched aliphatic side chain. In the group of protein amino acids, there are 3 that fulfill this condition: leucine, isoleucine, and valine. They make up an average of 40% of the protein consumed daily. 3)

Rose hips

Rose hips are the most nutritious source of natural vitamin C (l-ascorbic acid) surrounded by flavonoids. The vitamin C content of rosehips is many times higher than that of berries or citrus fruits. In addition, almost 130 compounds with a complex effect on the human body were discovered in the rosehip fruit. 4)

Vitamin A

Vitamin A is one of the earliest discovered vitamins. The effects of vitamin A deficiency were already known in ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome and were referred to as “chicken blindness” or night blindness. The disease was treated with the boiled or raw liver. It was not until the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries that a link between poor nutrition and the development of chicken blindness was established. 5)
