The Defenders

Original Members

Doctor Strange, Hulk, Silver Surfer, and Namor were among the initial Defenders team members. In 1971, they made their initial appearance in Marvel Feature #1. 1)

Change In 1972

Jessica Jones is a significant part of the squad in Netflix's The Defenders. In the comics, however, she was not a member of the squad at all. 6)

The New Defenders

The original series was renamed The New Defenders with issue #125. This new plot had evolved in a very different way. In reaction to an extraterrestrial prophesy stating that the team's key members will be responsible for the world's destruction. As a result, the team's founding members (Doctor Strange, Silver Surfer, Hulk, and Namor) are forced to quit. 7)

Cancellation

This New Defenders series enhances sales, but it was dropped after a few issues to create way in Marvel's production for the New Universe line. 8)

Secret Defenders

Marvel renamed the concept Secret Defenders in 1993. Doctor Strange founded and headed this new squad, in which he recruited many superheroes for various missions. 9)

TV Show

Marvel's The Defenders, a live-action superhero series, premiered on Netflix on August 18, 2017. The team adapted street-level and grounded superheroes based on the comic book. Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage are the team's original members. 10)

Danny Rand

Danny Rand, called the Immortal Iron Fist, is the only member of the organization who possesses mystical capabilities. Rand can use his mystical chi energies to increase his physical and superhuman skills. 11)

Alexandra Reid

In the Netflix series, the Defenders face battle against Alexandra Reid, a villain who does not appear in the Marvel Universe and was developed exclusively for the show. 12)

Brian Michael Bendis

In June, comic writer Brian Michael Bendis and illustrator David Marquez issued Defenders #1, which featured the same cast as in the show. 13)

Difference Between Comics And Show

The difference between Netflix's Defenders and Marvel Books is that Doctor Strange, Blade, and Deadpool will appear as guest characters in the comics. 14)

Marvel Cinematic Universe

The Defenders, a Netflix original series, is a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, although on a lower level than the Avengers. 15)
